A splash of color saves the day

Many individuals complain of not having enough clothes or cash to purchase new clothes in order to keep up with the latest trends. Put your complains away because there's surely a solution to every problem. Style and fashion isn't about what's in this season and what's not. Style is about wearing clothes in a matter that represent who you are and what you're about. After all, every one has different opinions on what's fashionable and what's not so rather than blending in, pop out! Mix and match pieces from your closet to create daily new looks. Add accessories and pops of color for a fun tasteful look.

This outfit consists of two main pieces: a jacket and a pair of black leggings! If you were to hand ten people the jacket and the leggings, you'd be shocked at how each individual would transform the pieces to fit their personalities and how different the outfits would appear. For example, I love random pops of colors and fun patterns but the person next to you may be interested in a more edgy look so they'd lean toward studs and chains.
Patterns for your body shape!
Stripes
Stripes is indeed a very appealing pattern and has the power of transforming your body however you'd like!
Horizontal stripes:
Horizontal stripes make you appear wider and most likely thicker. If you want your chest to appear larger try on a top with horizontal stripes across the bust and wear a belt at your waist to define it. Pencil skirts with thin horizontal stripes can make your hips appear more wide. Avoid skirts that are baggy and loose with thick, horizontal stripes! Yikes.
Vertical stripes
Unlike horizontal stripes, vertical stripes make you appear thinner and taller. You'll notice vertical stripes in many pieces along the waist line! To make your waist appear smaller, purchase a top with vertical stripes.
Dark colors
Darker colors such as black make you appear thinner as well. Wear dark colors on areas you want to appear thinner but keep in mind that dark colors are boring and not very appealing. You can wear a black top with khaki pants along with a yellow or red bag for a pop of color.
Decorative patterns
As I mentioned earlier, it's always funner to have some kind of pattern embedded into your outfit, but bits and chunks of it. Avoid too much of any one pattern for it may appear too noisy and distracting. There'll be too much going on and you'll look like a mess. If you're on the heavier side, simple is definitely more appealing. Heavier women should look for casual tops and fun bottoms along with say, a decorative scarf. Thin women should avoid noisy patterns on areas they want to highlight such as their hips or waists.
 Just have fun
Overall, just have fun and be yourself. Dig a few pieces out of your closet and mix them with different shoes, accessories, and patterns! Transform the simple pieces into something fun and something that defines YOU.

1950s Fashion

1950s was a crazy, fun time when all the men were returning home from war and new trends were being accepted and embraced. To fire it all up, Christian Dior introduced his new collection, "new look" in 1947 which consisted of rounded skirts, clinched waists, and very full skirts.

At first, Dior's new collection was looked down upon but before he knew it, it became a fashion sensation and was showcased in high class fashion magazines. Women started to embrace his collection and adopted the "housewife" image and aimed for clothing that was easy to wash and keep neat. Spandex, polyester, and acrylic were introduced during this decade and was widely accepted. The 1950s was all about vibrant patterns and trends such as the poodle skirts, which would come and go, sportswear inched in since it was featured in Vogue. The sleek, defining pencil skirt along with a peplum top that we are familiar with today came alive during this era with finishing touches such as classy pearls, gloves, or hats.

The 1950s consisted of rich and vibrant colors, flared skirts, pencil skirts, clinched waists, and classy suits for men. During this era, men had adopted a superb fashion sense as well and were based in conservatism. The ivy league style such as cardigan sweaters were cherished and worn by men during work free days as well as by athletes for the sweaters were adorned with letters showcasing their favorite players. Cowboy inspired shirts and hats became popular as well.

Fashion had taken an entirely different turn during this era and the trends are still alive today.

Fall 2013 fashion trends

It seems as though the weather's humidity keeps increasing rather than decreasing. You've been tanning and have worn every bikini stashed in your closet and realize your bundle of fall clothes haven't been touched for a while! Crisp days full of hot chocolate and warm lattes along with snug scarves and hats causes your mouth to water and your body to feel warm and fuzzy. Cuddling season is right around the corner and you must put your fashion foot forward and make a statement. Fall is all about being comfortable, warm, and chic! This blog will cover the top ten latest fall 2013 fashion trends!
1. DO invest in furry/ faux jackets!
These jackets will keep you warm and fashion forward! Everyone will be asking where you bought your piece from. Plus, this jacket outshines all the other basic jackets and really screams "IT'S FALL." Keep other pieces of clothing simple because it is a dramatic piece and you don't want to look over done or like a disaster. It's a staple in your wardrobe for fall 2013.

2. Hats
DO rock beanies! I cannot express how much any warm, fuzzy hat adds instant points to your outfit! If you feel like wearing a casual outfit just throw a hat on. They're super appropriate for fall and can really spice an outfit up! Accessory is key.
"Hats are a great antidote to what's going on. It's really their purpose to put a happy face on a sad world."

3. Classy patterns/houndstooth

Houndstooth is a large checked pattern with notched corners suggestive of a canine tooth, typically used in cloth for jackets and suits. It looks incredibly chic and classy! Go for this look and see how many compliments you'd win!

4. Vests and more vests..
Ah, vests. Vests add style to any outfit! If you feel like your top is too simple throw a vest on! You can invest in a leather vest for an edgy twist or a denim vest for a girly/cowgirl look. Vests are chic and can be worn with anything and add instant style to your wardrobe. InVEST.

5. Helllooo yellow

Even though many people believe yellow should solely be worn during spring amd summer- they are wrong! Yellow gives any wardrobe an instant SPLASH of color. It's bright and fun! All you need is a yellow jacket and you can wear it with a deep V black shirt along with any pair of pants, preferably ripped jeans. Add brightness into your daily life.

6. Leather weather
Oh, excuse me, where did you park your motorcycle again? Leather is chic and bad ass. It's edgy and will keep you warm! Leather leggings are a must have this fall. Pair them up with a tee along with a scarf and a blazer and you're chic to go.

7. Military based
What better way to support your troops? The military trend is chic and a must have in your wardrobe. It shows a bold, patriotic side or simply a "better not mess with me" side. Never shy away from the military look. It adds change and style to your wardrobe and is mad chic.

8.yum peplum
Do not ditch your peplum just yet! It's a must have trend for fall 2013! It's playful and flirty and really highlights your waist. It looks super stylish with a pencil skirt! DO have some peplum fun.

9. Do layer
Layer, layer, layer! DO layer scarves, hats, tanks. Tees, sweaters, etc. Fall is all about layering and wearing those pieces that have been hidden for so long. Rather than wearing a huge jacket, have fun and layer many pieces for a look that portrays your personality and keeps you warm! Be creative.

10. Button up with collar
This H&M model makes this button up look mad good or it may be the other way around. Button ups with collars make you look desirable and can easily be layered  up! Try wearing bright tanks underneath with a few buttons popped open or wear sweatshirts/vests on top with the collars popping up! Button ups look very appealing and are very fun!

Fall 2013 has a handful of fun trends that will keep you warm and comfortable! Enjoy!

Date night

So that cute guy you've been noticing for the past few months finally made eye contact with you and so you thought it was his cue to ask you out on a date...and you were right. He casually walks by with his charming self asking you if you have any plans for next week. You frantically shake your head and stutter "no." And there it was, the big question "would you like to go on a date with me?" You tell him you'll see if you have any plans just so you look like you have a life and text him that night that you are free for the date. Now that you've agreed to the date and have butterflies in your tummy, it's time to choose an outfit to impress him. I am going to introduce five outfits suitable to wear out on a date or special occasion. Enjoy!
1. Girly with a zest of edge

This outfit will show your girly side while highlighting your bold, edgy side. You'll look approachable yet confident. The red crop top along with the slightly flared leather skirt shows that you're not afraid to show a little skin! Mix and match this piece with either of the shoes, accessories and hairstyles depending on your taste.
2. Polka dot frenzy

This fit is fun, flirty, and fashion forward! The polka dotted top along with the plain black shorts really compliment each other while the lace on the bottom of the shorts add to the fun! The neck piece will fall into perfect place at your chest since the top is a deep V so there won't be too much bare skin! The chunky bracelets make a statement by adding a splash of color while the flats wrap the polka dotted frenzy look up. This fit will keep his eyes on you the entire night and have you feeling confident!
3.sporty hipster
Do you love fashion but aren't too girly? Well this is the perfect fit for you! This fun piece shows him that he can take you out to dinner and out to the baseball field after. The high top chucks is a brave replacement over the typical heels and flats that are normally worn. This shows that you're not afraid of taking risks and stay doing your own thing. The leather jacket and the golden bracelet highlight the look and balance it out.
4. Mad fashionista chic
This fit will definitely highlight your taste in fashion. Wherever you go you will have jaws dropping when you walk in and your date will just want to show you off to the world. This fit screams CONFIDENT and shows you're not afraid of all the attentions or should I say admirers. It's fun, sexy, and chic!
5. Flirty cupcake
Cute and girly...and sweet! This outfit will show your sweet, feminine side! You'll be looking cuter than a cupcake! The flared red dress is bold and fun but mostly warm and welcoming. The accessories are fun and add style to the dress while the wedges cool the look down with it's soft color. Leave your hair down and wavy or put it up as shown in the picture, i'd say it'd look like the cherry on top!

Look around your wardrobe and i'm sure you'll find some cute pieces! I hope I helped! Enjoy and have fun. xx

Watch this haul to give you back to school ideas! Enjoy! :) xx

Beautiful shapes

Dressing yourself may be stressful and can leave you fed up and exhausted. One way to make dressing up a more pleasant and satisfactory experience is to know your body shape. Body shape is all about proportion and understanding what fashion trends work for you as well as which don't work for you. Every woman should know and embrace her body shape. Even though we are all different, beautiful and unique, our body shapes are generally placed into five different categories: pear, wedge, rectangle, apple and the hourglass shape. You might fall into one category, or you might be a blend of two or more categories. You should keep in mind that your body shape is not the same as your body type. For example, a slender girl can share the same body shape just as a short woman can share the same body shape as a tall woman so exclude your height and your weight and strictly focus on SHAPE.
  • 1.Pear Shape
Ah, the classic pear shape that celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Eva Mendes share. Women who are pear shaped have nice, rounded lower bodies and defined waists. Their hips are often wider compared to their shoulders.
  • Best assets: shoulders, torso, and a flat stomach
  •  fashion goals: Emphasize your waist and arms, add volume to your shoulders and upper body and minimize your hips.

Women with pear shaped bodies should focus on minimizing the appearance of their hips and drawing attention upwards. Try wearing tight tops with loose bottoms, and add a belt to emphasize your waist and make it pop. Strapless tops bring attention to the upper body and shoulder pads really add definition to your upper body while leveling your shoulders to your hips!
  • 2.Wedge shape:
The inverted triangle which really highlights your chest and broad shoulders when compared to your narrow waist and hips. Some celebrities who share this body shape are Naomi Campbell and Demi Moore.
  • Best assets: legs and narrow waist
  • Fashion goals: Draw attention to waist line and legs and to soften the appearance of shoulders

Women with wedge shaped bodies are usually blessed with stunning legs! Try to show off your legs by wearing pieces that hit at least  above your knees. Avoid straps at the ankles for they make your legs appear shorter! Aim for tops that soften the look of your shoulders and draw attention toward your waist line.
  • 3. Rectangle shape
Many celebrities share the famous rectangle body shape such as Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Kate Hudson.
  • Best assets: Petite
  • Fashion goal: Create curves where they don't exist.
Women who share the rectangle shape don't necessarily have any curves and are petite. Aim for a sweetheart neckline as well as tops with ruffles and folds. Experiment and have fun with colors and accessories. Decide which part of your body is your favorite and highlight it.
  •  4.Apple shape
Women who share the apple shape really do have "more to love." Celebrities who share this body shape include Eva Longoria and Jordan Sparks. Women with the apple shape have narrow hips when compared to their upper body which includes a short torso.
  • Best asset: legs
  • Fashion goals: show off legs and use fashion to create an ideal wait line.
    Apple body shape

Aim for shorts and shoes such as pumps! Draw attention to your legs and make them POP out. Aim for V-neck tops for they make your torso appear elongated. Focus on using belts for the small areas on your waist.
  • 5.Hourglass shape
Ah, the famous Marilyn Monroe hourglass shape! This shape is classy and really womanly. Some celebrities who share this shape are Beyoncé Knowles and Scarlett Johannson. Women with the hourglass shape have similar portioned shoulders and hips along with a tiny waistline.
  • Best Assets: CURVES!
  • Fashion goal: show off your curves in the right way.
Avoid baggy clothes, the point here is to show your curves off. Invest in tight dresses that wrap around your body and belts to highlight your tiny waist. Show off your hips by aiming for high waisted skirts and tight skinny jeans that fit properly. Avoid clothes that cling on to your skin! Your clothing should be well fitted while showing your curves off, not trashy.
Embrace your beautiful shapes! You are all exotic and unique and I hope my fashion tips helped!

Unique fashion

There are no limits to fashion! There are always plenty of ways to get creative and think outside of the box. The fashion industry revolves around creativity and requires a variety of new ideas and random splashes to keep the industry alive and exciting. A lot of individuals try to break into the fashion industry, making it highly competitive. On the bright side, the fashion industry is very accessible and often requires new individuals with a unique and different taste. For example, the picture above shows a dress created out of recycled newspapers! The dress is breath taking and indeed very fashion forward. It appears as a work of art and most definitely required creativity. This dress was created with thirty copies of the "Financial Times" by Gary Harvey and acted as one of the nine dresses in his first collection at the London fashion week at the Estethica exhibition.  His collection "was a comment about thinking about the real cost of the garment that you buy, about that cost being natural resources, exploitation of labour, the biodegradable nature of garments." Harvey wanted to demonstrate the importance of secondhand clothing and how useful they can be. Many people deem a piece of clothing "unimportant" after wearing it for a few times and toss it away. Harvey's collection proves that theory wrong and highlights the fact that a piece of garment can be arranged in several different ways and still be useful. Harvey uses materials he finds in secondhand stores in his creations in order to prevent waste. Harvey is just an example of a creative fashion guru. Do not be afraid to think outside of the box!

Baseball Puffball Dress, made from 26 nylon baseball jackets. Sports uniforms were originally designed to be hi-tech long lasting uniforms, now they are non-biodegradable and are often discarded at the end of the season.Denim Dress, made from 41 pairs of Levi 501's. Jeans were originally made to be a long lasting workmen's uniform, since becoming a fashion garment they are discarded long before their use is over.
